Downe Guy - Josh Peace

Los Angeles based DJ Josh Peace is a busy, busy guy. He spins at three different venues in Los Angeles weekly and is known for his eclectic taste in music and infectious beats. I've seen club goers dancing to his music for hours straight, only to stop when the lights come on at the end of the night (and even then, they were ready to keep on dancing!).

He'll be spinning tomorrow at DowneTowne's Santa's Naughty Girls Party at Bar35. Ladies, be ready to dance your asses off!!

[DT] How long have you been DJing for? Tell us about how you got started and why.

[JP]I've been DJing professionally since I was about 16, in high school. However, I have been buying records since I was four. DJing was something that evolved naturally out of my childhood obsession with music.

[DT] Can you tell us about a bit about where we can find you every week spinning at Mustache Mondays and Mr. Black, which are both in LA.

[JP] I have 3 residencies in Los Angeles. The 1st is Mustache Mondays, which takes place at La Cita every Monday in Downtown LA. We've been doing Mustache for four years now and it is by far the place I feel the most free, musically speaking.

My second reisdency is Mr Black LA, which takes place at Bardot in Hollywood. We've been doing the Mr Black party in LA for over two years now and its the place where all of my various club residencies come together. I play everything from House to Disco, Electro, Hip Hop, 90's R&B and everything in between.

My 3rd residency is Cherry Pop in West Hollywood on Saturday nights. This is the most commercial of all my residencies, musically speaking, but there is something to be said for the Top 40 crowd. Every week I play all the latest & greatest of mainstream pop dance music. The crowd is so energetic & appreciative of all the latest Britney, Gaga & Beyonce hits that it really feels like I'm playing at a concert event.

[DT] What is your favorite genre of music to spin and why.

[JP]My all-time favorite genre of music will always be House Music. I grew up on Rock, Pop, R&B, Disco, Soul, etc. so I have a wide taste when it comes to music. However, House Music in the 90s was what propelled me the most to do what I'm doing today. Although I may play a wide variety of genres these days, House Music will always be my first true love.

[DT] What do you like to do in your free time?

[JP]In my free time, I like to catch up on my favorite TV shows like The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Project Runway, Top Chef, and anything else I might like thats dramatic and/or creatively competitive.

[DT] Is this your first time in Hawaii? Looking forward to doing anything while you're here?

[JP]This will be my 1st time in Hawaii EVER, so I'm hoping to make the most out of my weekend visit to the islands. I can't wait to see what Hawaii has to offer!
